Wincanton Choral Society Spring Concert 2012

Wincanton Choral Society and Orchestra with Simon Twistleton, Conductor, and Edward Burns, Leader, will present their Spring Concert on Sunday May 20th at 7.30pm in Wincanton Sports Centre, West Hill.

The choir with the orchestra will perform:

• "Stabat Mater" by Rossini
• "Gloria" by Poulenc
• "Zadock the Priest" by Handel

The orchestra will play:

• "Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1" by Elgar

The soloists are Anna Gregory, soprano, Arabella Heaton, alto, Paul Badley, tenor and Jonathan Prentice, bass.

Tickets can be obtained from www.netaticket.co.uk or telephone 01749 813899. They can also be purchased for £12.50 at the door (18 and under £6.00). A licensed bar will be available.

I recently had the pleasure of attending the Wincanton Choral Society and Orchestra Spring Concert. As always, the evening was a beautiful occasion with amazing performances by the choir, orchestra and soloists. Congratulations to Simon Twiselton on such a high quality evening, celebrating the brilliant works of Handel, Poulenc, Elgar and Rossini.

I look forward to the Christmas Concert on Sunday 9th December and I’m glad that use of our Performance Enhancement Centre as rehearsal space continues to support such a wonderful event.
