Wincanton Sports Centre has kicked off the New Year by kitting out its gym with new Virtual Active by Matrix CV equipment.

Matrix Virtual Active screen

Designed to create a multi-sensory experience, the Virtual Active software immerses users into landscapes ranging from the Grand Canyon to Hawaii. Users view cinema quality video content, feel gradual terrain changes underfoot and hear ambient sounds through their headphones.

On the lookout for innovative ways to attract new members, increase frequency of visits and retain the existing client base, Nick Mitchell, Health and Fitness Manager at Wincanton Sports Centre explains:

"Used by adults of all ages and abilities, our chosen gym equipment must offer added value to everyone. We were looking for equipment that would capture the imagination of our customers and maintain their interest, thus aiding member retention.

"We also know that Matrix Fitness kits out a number of 24 hour gyms, so its products are clearly able to cope with heavy usage. This is really important in a relatively small gym such as ours as just one treadmill out of action could mean a 25% reduction in available machines."

Matrix Fitness Sales Director, Chris Austin says:

"The needs of the gym user are constantly changing. Customers are demanding more from their chosen gym and membership commitments. It's a pleasure to support Wincanton Sports Centre in offering their clients top class technology at affordable prices."
