Getting Olympic Fever? Three Towns Torch Run
Disappointed to miss out on the official Olympic Torch procession in their area, local schools, backed by businesses, sport centres, the town councils and the Police are holding their own special torch procession around Castle Cary, Bruton and Wincanton.
This is happening on Friday 15 June 2012 starting at 9.45am. One adult marathon runner and 10 pupils from each school – Castle Cary Primary School, Ansford Academy, Bruton School for Girls, Bruton Primary School, Sexey's School, King Arthur's School, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Primary School and Wincanton Primary School – will each run a leg of the torch relay.
The event will culminate in refreshments and a final photocall at the Maddocks Pavilion on the Wincanton Sports Ground at 3.15pm. The event is designed to inspire local children about the Olympic Games through their own locally run event.
