The Wincanton Window ALS Ice-Bucket Challenge UPDATED

Thursday 28 August 2014, 15:36
By Dave Smith

Our esteemed Editor, Mandy and I were ice-bucket challenged by my treacherous father, in support of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, the most common type of Motor Neurone Disease). This sadistic exercise in mass-psychological manipulation, a viral phenomenon evidently powered in no small way now by Facebook, raises awareness by leveraging both pride and honour to have us all subjecting ourselves to extreme discomfort. I don’t even use Facebook, but it seems no one is safe.

After having buckets of ice-water tipped over our heads we each challenged three others. I challenged Gary Hunt from the C.A.T.C.H. team, Sophie Collins and either Helen and/or Liz from Skibz in a bid to get it included in one of their new video blog episodes. Mandy nominated her sister Nicky Turner, Steve Rice and Trixie Hiscock.

To donate to this worthy cause, either as a direct result of observing our humiliation in the video above, or because you also have been betrayed by your “friends”, according to https://www.facebook.com/mndassociation you can either use this website:

or text “ICED55 £5 to 70070” (no quotes, and a different amount if you like).

[UPDATE:] The ladies at Skibz have completed their challenge, and raised the bar considerably. Watch below.
