Stay Strong, Stay Steady class starting in Wincanton Memorial Hall

If you are worried that sometimes you feel unsteady on your feet, or perhaps you have a family history of osteoporosis or Parkinson’s, you may be interested in a new group that will be starting in Wincanton, in the Memorial Hall. The “Stay Strong, Stay Steady” sessions, provided by Age UK Somerset and Somerset County Council, are designed specifically to improve strength, balance and confidence and therefore prevent damaging falls.

A fully qualified instructor will be providing the weekly hour long sessions and the classes will cost £4 per session. There is a friendly atmosphere at the sessions so they’ll provide a great opportunity to make new friends, too.

To join the class the first step is to contact Age UK Somerset to refer yourself by completing a simple health questionnaire to check its suitability to your needs. The classes will start once they have received enough applicants so there is still time to be there for the first session.

The sessions are already proving popular in Bridgwater, Taunton, Wellington, Williton, Yeovil, South Petherton and Burnham on Sea.

For more information about the class being held at Wincanton Memorial Hall, please contact Ageing Well Manager Dianne Ramsay at Age UK Somerset on 01823 345626 or email . Alternatively, you can ask your GP or other health professional to refer you.
