‘Summer Nights’ is another eclectic selection of music being presented by Spectra Musica and Musical Director Peter Leech in St. Michael’s Church, North Cadbury on 1st July at 7:30pm.

Spectra Musica Summer Nights concert posterThe group’s repertoire continues to expand under Peter’s skilful baton – the programme will include a short mass by Johann Georg Albrechtsberger (1736 – 1809), a name not known by many but a prodigious talent; a colleague and familiar of Mozart, whose work will also feature in the concert. Japanese, Welsh, Slavic Russian, Latin and of course English will all be heard during the evening. There are two items by Ellington and of course Gershwin’s classic, ‘Summertime’ from Porgy and Bess.

Concert pianist Anita D’Attellis and a string quintet will be accompanying the group and will also feature throughout the evening.

For those who do not know North Cadbury, the church is in an idyllic setting next to North Cadbury Court, a sixteenth century mansion owned by the Montgomery family of cheese making fame. They have transformed it into a magnificent venue for all sorts of occasions, particularly weddings. It is quite the place to be on a balmy summer’s evening.
