Any ladies for netball?
Robins Netball Club was established back in the 1980’s and has been going from strength to strength ever since. Although the club began in Bruton, and home matches are played at Jubilee Park on Bruton, we currently train in Wincanton while we await for the new court in Bruton to be complete. Training takes place from 7:30-9pm at Wincanton Sports Centre and costs £4 per session.
We are always looking for new members to come and join us, whether it‘s to play competitively, socially, for fun, to meet new people or just get fit! It doesn‘t matter if you haven‘t played for or a while, or never played at all – any ladies over the age of 14 are welcome!
The Robins play all year round in a winter league, where matches take place on a Saturday, and a summer league which takes place in Yeovil on a Tuesday evening.
During the 2014/15 winter season the Robins topped the Somerset Division 3 by winning 20 out of 20 league games. Following this, they came 2nd in the Yeovil District Netball Summer League Division 2, and won the plate competition. Success in both competitions gained the Robins promotion to Division 2 in the Somerset County Netball League and promotion to Division 1 in the Yeovil District Netball Summer League.
During the 2015/16 season the Robins maintained their position in both winter and summer leagues. The 2016/17 winter league was another hugely successful one in which they finished 2nd, gaining promotion to Division 1. Another piece of silverware came our way when we won 8 of 9 games of the plate tournament.
Over the past few years the numbers have been growing allowing us to introduce another team, the Doves. The Doves play in a social league during summer in Frome, and also compete in friendly games. As a new team, the Doves have been developing over the last season and are improving with every training session and game they play.
