Prestigious National Award & New Premises for KD Grooming Studio
KD Grooming Studio is a local success story. Since opening in the High Street business has grown steadily. Kelly Davis set up the studio to provide full grooming facilities for dogs and cats of all kinds. She also provides professional training for prospective pet groomers, and her reputation draws candidates from all over the UK and overseas.
The first year of trading in 2013 saw KD Grooming Studio as a finalist in the Award for “Grooming Business of the Year”, and then, late in 2014, they took the top prize. They were also nominated finalists in the Liz Paul Awards for “Training School of the Year”. KD Grooming Studio is one of only a few grooming businesses in the South West who can actually provide training. As of January 2015, the new improved facilities allows KD to train three groomers five days a week.
Attending the Grooming Business of the Year Awards, Kelly bumped into boxing legend Frank Bruno and had a chat with him. At that time she didn’t know that KD Grooming Studio had won, and the look on her face would have been priceless when it was Frank who presented her with that coveted award.
Continued growth meant that the High Street studio was no longer fit for purpose, so Kelly searched for a more appropriate site. This was found at the Somerset & Dorset Animal Rescue, Balsam Farm, in Common Road, Wincanton. The new facility gives them a much more user-friendly space, away from main roads, giving better/safer access for all current and future clients.
Phase one of the plan provides a spacious open plan grooming area with six separate grooming benches, a separate pet bathing room with twin drying benches, a room for cat grooming and training seminars.
The Somerset & Dorset Animal Rescue Centre is in the process of building new kennels to replace their current facilities. When this work is complete phase two of Kelly’s plan will see KD Grooming Studio further extending their new facilities.
