After years of fund-raising, planning and preparation, Wincanton Tennis Club celebrated the opening of our new Club House on Saturday 11th September. Officially opened by founding member and Club President, Mrs Anne Bedford, we were also visited by Wincanton's Mayor, Mr Richard D'Arcy. We feel this new club house provides us with what are really essential court-side facilities and it certainly is a significant improvement on our rather well-worn old hut. The new verandah area in particular offers a more comfortable viewing area for spectators.

And there certainly were lots of spectators on Saturday. The club house opening was combined with the Finals Day for the inter-club knock out tournament. We had over thirty members and friends there for the opening and that was followed by an afternoon of really enjoyable tennis. Finally we had a BBQ.

Alexia Price, our highly qualifed LTA coach"This new club house is a real asset to Wincanton Tennis Club," commented Chairman Rik Elvidge, "We are an active club with numerous teams within the local leagues. We also have an active junior section. We really think our inadequate courtside facilities have been letting us down over the last few years, so this new club house gives us the facilities our visitors need and expect."

Wincanton Tennis Club has four all-weather, floodlit courts and welcomes both members and non-members alike.

There is a full coaching programme on offer with Alexia Price, our highly qualified LTA coach shown here.

Players are welcome to turn up at Club Nights on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm or contact Alexia on 07966 905491 for details of current coaching programmes.

For casual play, the courts at Wincanton Sports Ground, Moor Lane, Wincanton, can also be hired by the hour.
