Nativity Scenes Festival Attracts a Good Turnout

Back in June the church fundraising committee decided that it would be a good idea to hold a Festival of Nativities in the church. They invited organisations, schools, playgroups, churches and individuals to display a nativity and write a small piece about the nativity and what it meant to them.

As a result, twenty five nativity sets made an engaging display in the Parish Church earlier this month. The display was open for three days for people to visit. Some were handmade by very small children, others held deep meanings to the owners and others were just the nativity scenes they display in their homes at Christmas time.

Wincanton Primary School reception class pupil, Isaac Wynne, was keen to show his mother Kerri the angel he had made as part of the school’s nativity scene that they had made. They visited on Saturday when the parish organised a festive coffee morning with cakes and drinks on sale. The event attracted a good turnout from the town.

Visitors commented on how good the nativity scenes were and what a great variety there was on display.
