By John Baxter

Memorial window, Wincanton Parish Church2014 is the centenary of the start of a terrible conflict which went on for four years, causing the most horrific casualties in the trenches of Flanders and France. Wincanton Museum is hoping to mount an exhibition of artefacts and memorabilia belonging to anyone local who died or survived in that war.

We are looking for photographs, cards, letters, weapons, helmets, uniforms, in fact anything that might bring back memories and illustrate this time. The Museum is hoping to lay this on next year both in the Museum Room in the Library and also on a Library Wall, so if you have anything or know of a friend or relative who has anything they might be prepared to lend the Museum for this exhibition, please contact our Museum Curator, John Atkins. Tel 01963 33109, email .
