Museum Gets a Logo Thanks to King Arthur’s Artists

The winning Museum and History Society logo, by Will Bristol and Brad Tucker

With the help of Art teachers Mrs Debbie Nelson and Mrs Anna Mesarova, Wincanton Museum and History Society launched a competition for a student-designed logo for the Society. The impetus to do this was inspired by the much admired logo designed by a King Arthur’s student for the Health Centre when it opened.

As a result every student in the school was given some time in an art lesson to work on a logo and the resulting images were judged by a panel set up by the Museum Committee. Their unanimous choice was a design by Year Seven student Will Bristol. It did, however, need some tweaking and Year Eleven student Brad Tucker was asked to help, with the result you can see here.

The Wincanton Museum and History Society now has a clean, contemporary logo to use for advertising and publicity purposes, which is immediately recognisable as standing for Wincanton.

Hand-drawn?

Remarkably I hear that this logo has been entirely hand-drawn. It shouldn't come as a big surprise to me because it reminds me of the technical drawing lessons I had as part of the D.T. curriculum when I was at KA's a... few years ago :/

Still, I wonder if there'll be a follow-up attempt to digitise it for future use. I imagine the Muesum would benefit from having a version constructed digitally using vectors, for use at high resolutions.

I can digitise this for you.
I miss being in the hub of Wincanton, and I'd like to be part of the ongoing project.
I will digitise it FOC.

Nikki
