Local residents are invited to attend a reception on Tuesday 9th May at 6:30pm in The Shambles at The Market House, Castle Cary, BA7 7AH, marking the launch of a new volunteer service. The service “Macmillan Help About Wincanton” will offer practical help to cancer patients and their families in Wincanton, Bruton, Castle Cary, Shepton Mallet and the surrounding areas, and start later in the summer.

Macmillan Help About” will offer practical support to people affected by cancer in and around Castle Cary, Shepton Mallet, Wincanton and Bruton in Somerset. We know that when you have a cancer diagnosis or are caring for someone with cancer, everyday tasks we take for granted when fit and healthy can fall by the wayside.

Our volunteers will be able to help take away some of the stress, by helping out with practical tasks around the home, in the garden or local community. So whether it’s some ironing that’s built up, mowing the lawn or transport to an appointment, we can help.

Come along to find out how to get involved and how people will get support from the service. Local people will describe why they have set up the service and representatives of Macmillan Cancer Support will describe their work in Somerset.

It is essential to let the organisers know that you wish to attend, for the planning of seating and refreshments. Please reserve a place by contacting Kathleen on 07834 192203 or email .
