There were smiles all round as Bruton School for Girls announced its GCSE results on Thursday 21st August.

With 97% of students gaining five or more GCSEs at A* to C grades – an increase of 3% from last year – and with almost two thirds of all grades being the top A* or A awards, the highest result for five years, Bruton School is building its reputation for consistently high achievements year on year.
Some of this year’s star achievers were:

  • Georgie Lewis of Castle Cary was awarded a total of 13 A* grades.
  • Harriet Sheves of Warminster received 8 A* and 4 As.
  • Emma Lipscomb of Bruton gained 8 A* and 3 A grades.

Nicola Botterill, Headmistress at BSG, congratulated the girls on their wonderful results:

Amid all the national speculation that this year’s results would be lower than previous years, our girls have proved that hard work and dedication has paid off with a fantastic set of results across a wide range of subjects.

We pride ourselves on providing the best teaching in an environment which encourages, stimulates and allows our girls to shine.

Nicola looked forward to welcoming many of the girls back the following week to begin their A Level studies at the school’s sixth form, which the previous week announced 47% of A Level grades were A or A* - a four year high and far above the national average of 26%. She added:

Hearing how our former students have graduated this summer from Cambridge and London universities with first class degrees in Medicine and English, in addition to our GCSE and A Level results, only serves to motivate and inspire our current pupils and demonstrates how Bruton School nurtures the potential in every child.

Parents wishing to discover how BSG can help their child flourish in their chosen studies can book a place at the open day on Saturday 4th October or email for more information.
