"Dad always thought laughter was the best medicine, which I guess is why several of us died of tuberculosis" - Jack Handey.

The Barrel of Laughs Comedy Club night was launched back in April of this year, here at The Nog Inn, in our little function room down the cobbled path. Held on the first Thursday of every month at 8.00pm, it's been steadily growing in popularity every month since then!

If you are looking for a slightly different night out, then why not try it? It's right here on your doorstep, and tickets are a bargain at only £8 in advance (available at the bar) or £10 on the door. We have a small group of people who regularly attend, but each month we are seeing new and different faces, all enjoying the experience.

We normally have four or five different acts for you, and there's something for everyone - comedy is very personal, and whether you like it or not, everyone has an opinion on it! So far we've been lucky enough to see the comic talents of people such as Matt Price, Mark Felgate, Geoff Whiting, Laura Lexx, Rob Coleman, Bryan O'Gorman and Mickey Sharma to name just a few! They come from all walks of life, from all over the UK and beyond to bring a mixed bag of comedy to us.

Here's what a customer emailed to say:

"Dear Nog Inn,

I came last night to your Comedy Club with my partner and a friend and I want to say thank you for a wonderful evening. We were truly impressed with the welcome from the staff, the great atmosphere, not to mention the quality of the acts. Simply a wonderful evening on our doorstep! We reckon it won't be long before you can't fit everyone in that small room! It was excellent comedy! So thank you for everyone involved in taking the trouble to organise something like this and raising the profile of pub entertainment.

Till next time,

Maggie"

Iszi Lawrence, comedianThe next one will be on Thursday 4th October, and we are looking forward to welcoming Iszi Lawrence, Bruce Cochrane, Tim O'Connor, Ian Cognito and your comperes for the night, Horse & Louis. If you fancy a sneak peak of our acts please feel free to check out our website, where we list full details of the dates, comedians and links to their work for you!

There are a wide variety of benefits to be gained by making daily laughter a priority and amongst them: laughter is relaxing, it can boost your immune system, improve your creativity and best of all it's a contagious social activity! So what are you waiting for? We hope you can make it, and that you enjoy The Barrel of Laughs Comedy Club as much as we do.
