Thursday 8 September 2011, 14:30
By Jane Jones

Georg Friedrich HandelWincanton Choral Society began their new season on Monday 5th September, under the leadership of Simon Twistleton. Their Winter Concert on 11th December will include Karl Jenkin's 'A Celebration of Christmas', Morten Lauridsen's ethereal 'Magnum Mysterium' and excerpts from Handel's 'Messiah'. The Spring Concert on 20th May 2012 will include Rossini's 'Sabat Mater', Poulenc's 'Gloria' and Handel's 'Zadok the Priest'.

Anyone who enjoys singing is very welcome to join no matter what their musical ability. Rehearsals are held in the Performance Enhancement Centre at King Arthur's School in Wincanton every Monday evening from 7.15pm until 9.00pm.

Sadly we lost our new talented accompanist Katrine Reimers last February due to personal reasons which necessitated her relocating to London. However, we are delighted to have Jackie Bevan joining us in September, who is a member of the well known, extremely musical local family. She is very involved in a wide variety of musical activities in the West Country. For any further information on the Society contact 01749 860457.
